The Chillán Municipal Cemetery is located to the southwest of the city and has a surface area of 170,680 square meters, which is distributed in three large courtyards. To date, it is estimated that there are two hundred and fifty thousand people buried in the cemetery.
In its interior, the gray and white colors of the tombs, niches, mausoleums, and marble sculptures that can be found around the corridors and vegetation areas are remarkably predominant. Some of the trees that can be observed in the enclosure are pines, oaks, lindens, firs, palms, araucarias, and cypresses, among others.
